FAQs

Below are some of our most frequently asked questions but if you have any other questions don’t hesitate to get in touch

What is bespoke?2022-01-24T15:34:41+00:00

Bespoke is complete and total customisation according to you and your needs and specifications.

What is the process from start to finish?2023-01-31T15:10:03+00:00

The very first thing is to get in touch, either by email or by phone, we will talk you through some ideas and what you will be using the garden room for. We will initially discuss with you some designs and we will be able to give you a rough ballpark cost over the phone and timescales if you were to proceed. Next, would be to arrange a meeting on-site to have a more detailed chat about the garden room and we would be able to design a room that matches your requirements. If desired, we can bring samples to the meeting so you can see and feel the products that you are choosing. After this, we would send you a CAD photo of your design, and a quote.

We will be on hand to answer any questions you may have about the quote and will happily book in another meeting to discuss these with you. If you’re happy and would like to proceed, we have our terms and conditions documents to fill out and a deposit will need to be paid of £1800 Inc VAT.

We will then keep you updated with our start date and start the work on the agreed date.

The installation of the garden room will take roughly 3 weeks to complete depending on size. We will organise the trades required and make sure the build goes as smoothly as possible. Once we have built your garden room and you are happy with the final finish, we will endeavour to return the garden to the state it was prior to the project starting.

After completion, you will receive your warranty certificate and we are only a phone call away if you need us for any aftercare.

Is there aftercare?2022-01-24T15:36:05+00:00

Customer satisfaction is the most important thing to us and will help us develop as a business. If you do meet any issues with the garden room then we will be more than happy to rectify these issues as soon as possible and get the building back to its high standard set by us.

What design is right for me?2022-01-24T15:36:48+00:00

Depending on what you will be using the garden room for, different designs will suit the purpose of the room better. There is a page on our website “pre-sketched designs and prices” that is dedicated to showcasing some of the options available as well as bespoke options. We are experienced in providing advice on how to maximise the functionality of your room. This question will be addressed during the initial phone call and ideas meeting. We will provide you with a CAD drawing of your own bespoke garden room. This allows you to see the final product and make alterations if needed if it doesn’t fit your desires. We provide this service free with every quotation.

Do we need planning permission/building regulations?2022-01-24T15:37:50+00:00

Due to the general size of a garden room, it is unlikely that we will need to apply for planning permission for the project, however, if this is an issue then we will follow the necessary procedure and help you along with this process. Common times planning permission is required is if you would like to use the room as a gym, and you would like the internal ceiling height to be higher than usual. Our standard internal floor to ceiling height is 2150mm.

Building regulations may apply if you want to use the garden room as sleeping accommodation or the building is over 30square meters in size. If you have any concerns then please contact us and we offer advice if any action is needed based on your proposed building.

Can I incorporate a tree or pond?2022-01-24T15:38:22+00:00

If you have a focal point in your garden you would like to incorporate, there are a lot of different ways we can do this. Let us know in the initial meeting and we can include them in your design.

How do I pay?2023-01-31T15:11:05+00:00

The meetings and quotations are completely free, so even if you are looking for a price comparison please feel free to contact us. Alternatively, if you have a budget to work with and would like to receive a quote before a meeting, let us know and we can design a room based on your budget to give you an idea of what you can get for your money. Once you’re ready to proceed we ask for a £1800 deposit which includes VAT. Your deposit will be £1800 no matter how much the total price is for the garden room is. The deposit will come from the cost of the garden room.

The deposit is the only upfront cost required to confirm the garden room.

We would then ask for weekly instalments to cover materials and labour.

A written payment plan can be provided if desired.

How Can We Help You?

What sort of budget do you have for the project? *

Absolutely thrilled with my new office from South Downs Garden Rooms. Very impressed with the service from Luke and his team.

Christina, Google Review

We are delighted with the garden room. The process from design to implementation was carried out with care and thoroughness, to achieve a very high-quality build.

Tom Webber, Google Review

South Downs Garden Rooms built us an amazing 9x4m room to an excellent specification. This included wifi heating, acoustic insulation, cedar-clad, full electrics and 5m bifold doors. They are very diligent in their build process and always communicative throughout. I would thoroughly recommend them.
